The Safe Schools and Communities Team (SSCT) is a partnership between Dorset Police, The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and Dorset Combined Youth Offending Service with a remit to provide education/training to children, young people, parents/carers and professionals on Alcohol and Drug Misuse, Anti-bullying, Anti-social Behaviour, Child Exploitation, Diversity, Online safety, Personal safety, Preventing Gang Culture, Preventing Violent Extremism and Weapons.
The team consists of dedicated Safe Schools Officers and a specialist Internet Safety Officer. All of the officers undertake Safeguarding training and undergo enhanced vetting on a regular basis.
Please note the following in relation to education and training bookings:
- Officers are available to attend 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 4pm on Saturdays. We will endeavour to provide an officer to attend at your preferred time; however, please be aware that some dates are very popular and therefore may already have been booked (e.g. INSET days).
- Session times are detailed in the brochure: if you are having multiple sessions in one day, please allow enough time for students, parents or staff to assemble in the location or for the presenter to move between locations. Please also include any school breaks/lunches we need to be aware of.
- Please note that the officer attending will bring presentations in Powerpoint format on a USB memory stick. They will not bring other equipment such as computer, projector, screen or speakers unless by special arrangement – please ensure this is indicated on the booking form.
