The Safe Schools and Communities Team (SSCT) is a partnership between Dorset Police, The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and Dorset Combined Youth Offending Service with a remit to provide education/training to children, young people, parents/carers and professionals on Online safety, Anti-bullying, Anti-social Behaviour, Alcohol and Drug misuse, Preventing Violent Extremism, Weapons, Personal safety, Child Sexual Exploitation, Diversity and Preventing Gang Culture.
The team consists of dedicated schools officers, all of whom are Police Community Support Officers, as well as a specialist Internet Safety Officer. All of the officers undertake Safeguarding training and undergo enhanced vetting on a regular basis.
Please note the following in relation to education and training bookings:
- Officers are available to attend 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 4pm on Saturdays. We will endeavour to provide an officer to attend at your preferred time; however, please be aware that some dates are very popular and therefore may already have been booked (e.g. INSET days).
- Session times are detailed in the brochure: if you are having multiple sessions in one day, please allow enough time for students, parents or staff to assemble in the location or for the presenter to move between locations. Please also include any school breaks/lunches we need to be aware of.
- Please note that the officer attending will bring a laptop and a memory stick containing the presentation and any supporting materials. They will not normally bring other equipment such as projector, screen or speakers unless by special arrangement – please ensure this is indicated on the booking form.
