First News

First News is the UK’s only newspaper for young people. We were founded in 2006 by Sarah and Steve Thomson with editor Nicky Cox. We have always been independently owned and have no political affiliations. We now publish both print and digital editions every Friday. Ten years on, we have over 2m young people nationwide reading First News each week with over half of all UK schools subscribing to our paper.
Game Changer (Cornwall)

Game Changer is a £3.1 million project funded by the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund (ESF) which will run until November 2019 designed to support 1035 young people aged 15 to 24 across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It will support young people to overcome the complex challenges they face; understand their individual aptitudes, passions and interests; develop skills and experiences; build connectivity and networks, resulting in at least 55% of them moving into work or long-term learning.

The Zone (Plymouth)

We are a charity which provides free and confidential information and support to young people. On average we support over 5500 different young people each year through our different projects; since we were founded in 1990 we estimate that we have supported over 130,000 young people. Our drop in service, available 6 days a week, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, offers young people emotional support and information around housing, sexual health and mental health and the options available to them. We can also offer information about, and make referrals to, specialist services, both within The Zone and elsewhere.
