24/02/2018: Annual Youth Work Works Conference
We are hosting our annual conference at The 100 Club in Exeter on Sat 24th Feb 2018, and all youth workers, board members, and interested community members are welcome to attend. We are inviting representatives from the following community groups and agencies to discuss topics including Funding, Early Help, Community Development, Mental Health and more. The main content, workshops, and discussions will take place between 10am and 1pm. This will allow plenty of time for networking during and after lunch where we will also have young people present to showcase the Small Grant Fund and application paperwork.
22/03/2018: Safeguarding Children in the Digital Age
The internet provides children and young people with countless opportunities for learning, development and socialisation, but the rapidly evolving digital world also presents significant threats to their safety. Safeguarding children and young people today requires a solid understanding of how to safeguard children online. This is an essential national conference for the entire children’s workforce. We have secured some of the country’s leading experts to provide an all-round grasp of the principal dangers, and equip you with the understanding, skills and confidence to enable children and young people to stay safe in the digital age.
26/04/2018: ASD and understanding challenging behaviour
This workshop will look at behaviours commonly seen in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), that may be considered ‘challenging.’ We will look at the underlying reasons for behaviours and strategies for managing these behaviours. Topics covered include: The 4 main causes of challenging behaviour; Rigidity, avoidance and repetitive questioning; Self-injurious behaviour; and Improving the environment and improving communication to change these behaviours. This workshop meets Continual Professional Development criteria at an intermediate level.

ABA are official organisers of Anti-Bullying Week. Anti-Bullying Week 2017 was a great success. Anti-Bullying Week 2018 will be held from 12th – 16th November.
