DSCB/DSAB - Part 1 Understanding Domestic Abuse (Group 3 Refresher/Special Interest)

Looking out for Lottie – spot the signs of child sexual exploitation

Focus on child sexual exploitation and online grooming with an opportunity to consider the ‘boyfriend style’ groomer perspective. Lottie is an interactive training tool with a new and innovative approach using an online simulation. The simulation follows the story of Lottie, a schoolgirl, and how she becomes involved with Jake, a seemingly innocent boyfriend. Through the use of a social media interface, professionals ae able to learn about grooming by tracking the behaviour of the groomer.

Zak – Spot the signs of online radicalisation

An innovative social media style simulation for use with adults and young people focusing on online grooming and the radicalisation process. Zak offers the opportunity for professionals to train on key aspects of online radicalisation – gaining an insight into the process and implications for the victim and groomer. It is an interactive training tool with a new and innovative approach using an online training tool. The use of this package is a good support to basic Prevent training.

Group 3 Refresher/Special Interest - Adolescents and Risk

Members of the workforce who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents and carers and who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child and parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns e.g. paediatricians, GPs, midwives, school nurses, nurses, health visitors, residential staff, teachers, youth workers, probation staff, sports club welfare offices, those working with adults in, for example, learning disability, mental health, alcohol and drug misuse services and the police.

LSCB Level 3 Safeguarding Children Course (2 Day)

This two day Multi-Agency training will equip practitioners to address safeguarding concerns in their work with children and young people. This is a two day course aiming to raise awareness of child protection procedures, which is Multi Agency; for all agencies in child care, early year’s settings, child health and mental health.
Participants will be provided with knowledge to enable them to undertake the safeguarding role within their workplace. A Paediatrician, Social Worker and a representative from Dorset Police are contributors to this training.

Child Protection Training - Group 3 (Designated Safeguarding Officer)

The course programme has been approved by the Devon Safeguarding Children Board and is constantly being updated to adapt to modern challenges. This forms part of the range of training courses, events and online learning that helps protect children and young people in Devon. This training is for members of the not for profit children and young people’s workforce who have particular responsibilities in relation to advising and supporting other staff (paid/unpaid) who may have safeguarding concerns, who have the responsibility to receive and refer safeguarding information. This also includes self-employed ‘stand-alone’ practitioners who do not work within an organisation (ie childminders, private tutors, etc).
